The National Association of the Deaf (NAD), the Model Secondary School for the Deaf (MSSD), a demonstration school of the Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center, and Gallaudet University Kellogg Conference Center (GUKCH) are excited to host the 24th Biennial Jr. NAD National Conference in Washington, D.C!

The Jr. NAD offers deaf and hard of hearing students in 7th through 12th grade opportunities to develop leadership skills, learn and demonstrate citizenship, and meet and interact with students from other schools and states. This year’s conference theme is “Together We Connect: Reach. Engage. Act. Lead.

The Jr. NAD National Conference November 5-10, 2013 will provide enhanced leadership development and advocacy training among Jr. NAD chapters’ members and observers, including their advisors. This is an extraordinary opportunity to create connections with other members from all over the United States, as well as learning together through shared experiences and workshops provided by various deaf and hard-of-hearing role models.

Jr. NAD chapters focus on advocacy, attitude, awareness, commitment, cooperation, friendship, information exchange, involvement and leadership skills. Chapters have meetings and participate in many activities such as community eventsand fundraisers. Skills and values obtained by chapter members during these meetings and events will help them to become future leaders and advocates in the deaf and hard of hearing community.
