The NAD and the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) will be celebrating the International Week of the Deaf during September 23 to 27 this fall. The WFD has proclaimed this year’s theme as “Equality for Deaf People” – and the NAD will have several initiatives to promote its support for the US Congress to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (#CRPD) during that week.
Thanks to people who particiated in the informational video — Davin Searls, NAD International Committee (IC) Chair; Colin Allen, World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) President; Alim Chandani, NAD IC Member; Scottie Allen, NAD IC Member; Khadijat Rashid, NAD IC Member; Joel Barish, DeafNation; and Wilma Newhoudt WFD Vice-President.
So the video campaign begins now! We need you to send in your support! How? Email your 10-second video to submit (at) nad (dot) org today! All you need to sign is: I [positive verb] (any deaf-related term); I support CRPD!
Besides this video campaign, the NAD will organize several events to show our support for the ratification of the CRPD in a partnership with the US International Council on Disabilities (USICD) and other advocates. There will be a “Contact Congress” day and a visit to the Hill for you all to participate. These efforts are for you, the public, to join and show your support.
The NAD will send out another eBlast with specific details about this week for you all to use and share.
