Rooted in Members, United By Mission
As a federation, the NAD is made up of a diverse network of members who form the foundation of our structure, leadership, and collective strength. At the heart are state association affiliates and organizational affiliates—nonprofit, for-profit, and government entities that align with our mission. Many of these organizations are also member-driven, representing communities at the national, state, and local levels.
Through their participation in the Council of Representatives, they help ensure that NAD’s direction remains grounded in the needs and priorities of the community. They are joined by sections, Junior NAD chapters, college student affiliates, and individual members, all of whom contribute to the NAD’s reach and impact.
Together, these groups bring lived experiences, advocacy efforts, and diverse perspectives — creating a structure that is broad, deeply rooted in community leadership, and ensures national efforts remain grounded in local realities. This collective strength reflects our commitment to shared leadership and the principle of Nothing About Us, Without Us.
