English Transcript:

President Stephanie Hakulin:

Hello everyone.  Happy New Year!

We, the NAD Board in partnership with Innivee Strategies, have exciting news to share with our community! We are thrilled to announce that the position of CEO for the National Association of the Deaf is now open for applications.

Jimmy Peterson:

We are seeking a visionary communicator and movement leader who will advance NAD’s mission to preserve, protect, and promote the civil, human, and linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the United States and its territories. Recognizing the essential work of rebuilding community trust, this leader will bring authenticity, accountability, and consistency in following through on commitments while honoring our 145-year legacy and boldly shaping the future.

Nicholas Lalanne:
Our next CEO will bring distinguished nonprofit leadership expertise, financial acumen, and proven fundraising excellence, coupled with deep cultural competency and genuine relationships throughout the diverse deaf community. Working collaboratively with our state associations and organizational affiliates, this bridge-builder will drive systemic change, cultivate emerging leaders, and ensure that every deaf and hard of hearing person experiences genuine belonging, empowerment, and opportunity.

Laura Kim:

NAD serves a diverse community—from native ASL users to those who became deaf or hard of hearing later in life, spanning all ages, locations, communication preferences, and intersecting identities.

Throughout this process, we engaged with you through:

  • Community surveys gathering input on the qualities desired in our next Chief Executive Officer
  • Focus groups with community members, NAD staff, and board members
  • A leadership profile informed by your feedback

We want to express our deep gratitude to everyone who participated in the data collection process. Your perspectives, priorities, and insights shaped this search from the beginning. We have compiled a comprehensive prospectus that truly reflects what our community wants and needs in our next leader.

Milmaglyn Morales:
