We invite you to nominate someone or an organization — each award has a different purpose. You can nominate someone for each type of award that best fits their contribution to our community.

Winners of each award will be announced at the NAD Conference in Orlando, Florida during June 30-July 4, 2022.

Presented to the State Association that has demonstrated exceptional advocacy programs and services, including membership outreach and communications.
Presented to legislators who have demonstrated extraordinary commitment and effort in enacting legislation advancing the civil, human and/or linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing people.
Presented to individuals who have shown significant dedication to and involvement with improving the quality of interpreting in the United States.
Presented to an individual who has demonstrated leadership in bridging differences and in building inclusive communities across individual and intersecting identities–such as race, ethnicity, religion, social class, nationality, disability, sexual preference and gender expression. This award is named for Dr. Marbury, or “Nathie” as she was the first person of color to serve as an appointed board member.
Presented to an individual has demonstrated an excellent leadership in education and community activity. This award is named for the late Gertie Galloway was the first female president of the NAD, the first deaf superintendent of MKSD in New Jersey, known as the Marie H. Katzenbach School for the Deaf, the first female president of CEASD, known as the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf, and the first female president of Deaf Seniors of America.
Presented in recognition of an individual NAD Board member who has proven to be extraordinarily dedicated and committed to the mission, vision, and values of the NAD in service to the organization above and beyond the duties and expectations of NAD Board members.
Presented to any deaf or hard of hearing individual who brings a greater impact via social media, the medium, and the media nationally with some advocacy or activism means in various ways.
Presented in recognition of an organization for its exceptional commitment in increasing equal access and ongoing advocacy for many deaf and hard of hearing community members in our country.
Presented in recognition of an individual member who carries the spirit of the NAD in all aspects of their work and on all levels – local, state and national – demonstrating exemplary commitment, dedication, and service to the American deaf and hard of hearing community.
Presented in recognition of individual members of the NAD who demonstrate dedicated volunteerism toward making a difference on behalf of American deaf and hard of hearing senior citizens.
Presented in memory of Frederick C. Schreiber, the first executive director of the NAD who served from 1966 to 1978, in recognition of an individual NAD member who has demonstrated exemplary commitment to the advancement of the civil, human, and linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing Americans.
Presented to an individual who has provided important contributions in positive service to deaf and hard of hearing youth, with the goal of enhancing their skills and leadership abilities.
Presented in recognition of an individual Jr. NAD or NAD member between the ages of 14-18 and 19-28 years-old, whose dedication, vision, and leadership have made a difference among American deaf and hard of hearing youth.
Presented in recognition of individual NAD members who have demonstrated dedicated volunteer service on behalf of the NAD and the American deaf and hard of hearing community.
Presented in memory of Frederick C. Schreiber, the first Executive Director of the NAD who served from 1966 to 1978, and in recognition of an individual NAD member who has provided a lifetime of volunteer service of lasting benefit to the deaf community and has established a model of behavior for young deaf people to emulate.
Presented in memory of deaf missionary educator Andrew J. Foster, in recognition of an individual NAD member who has demonstrated excellence in teaching, with focus on advancing the field of education of deaf and hard of hearing students.
Presented in recognition of individuals or organizational entities for exceptional commitment to advancing the accessibility rights of deaf and hard of hearing Americans in a way that also benefits the public at large.
